In general, these are static question-answer formats. For example, consider a bank using the SearchAssist application. With this option, you can enter the Question-Response pair for each FAQ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To add FAQs manually, follow the below steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the Sources page, click <\/span><b>FAQs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the left pane.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the FAQs page, click the <\/span><b>Add FAQ <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and select <\/span><b>Add FAQs Manually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the Add FAQs dialog box, enter a question in the <\/span><b>Question <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">field.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the <\/span><b>Answers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">section, click <\/span><b>+ Response<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><b>Editor <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">layout, type the bot response. Simple formatting options like Bold, Italics, indentation, bullets, links are provided.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.kore.ai\/searchassist\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/FAQ_manual.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1216\" src=\"http:\/\/docs.kore.ai\/searchassist\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/FAQ_manual.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1083\" height=\"765\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Image URL<\/strong> can be entered to be used in the results template selected.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conditional Response<\/strong> allows you to add conditions when a particular response would be qualified. This is particularly helpful when you have multiple responses and would like to present a specific response in a specific context. <a href=\"#Conditional_Responses\">See below for details<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Save<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Once saved from the Drafts section, you can add <strong>Alternate Questions.<\/strong> These are different ways in which the user might come up with the query. For example, <em>How do I pay my bills? Can you tell me the process to pay the bill?<\/em> etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supported_File_Formats\"><\/span>Supported File Formats<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The FAQ Extract and Import supports extracting FAQs only from supported JSON, CSV, PDF, and URL formats.<\/p>\n<p>Note that the file size must not exceed 5MB.<\/p>\n<h5>CSV<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The import FAQs interpret the text in the first column as a question and that in the second column as an answer.<\/li>\n<li>The file must not have any headers.<\/li>\n<li>Any headers and the text present in the other columns are ignored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>PDF<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The Extract FAQs processes the content from a PDF and convert it into question-answer pairs.<\/li>\n<li>Documents with the table of contents: Ideally a document with a table of contents is preferred. In such cases, the table of contents is extracted first and then used to parse the document and identify headings. The information present in the table of contents is used to derive the hierarchy of headings (headings, subheadings, sub-sub headings, etc.). These levels are separated by a vertical line as a delimiter (heading | subheading | sub-sub heading) as part of the extraction process.<\/li>\n<li>Documents with no table of contents: In such cases, a pre-trained machine learning model is applied that identifies headings based on either font style or font size. In the case of using font size, the heading hierarchy can also be derived.<\/li>\n<li>The text is then formatted with a uniform header and paragraph blocks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Web Pages<\/h5>\n<p>The Extract FAQs supports the following three different formats of FAQ web pages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plain FAQ pages with linear question-answer pairs.<\/li>\n<li>Pages with question hyperlinks that point to answers on the same page.<\/li>\n<li>Pages with question hyperlinks that point to answers on a different page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Extraction of certain FAQs on the webpage fails under the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The question text is split between multiple HTML tags on the FAQ page.<\/li>\n<li>The tag applied to the answer is neither the child nor the sibling of the extracted question as per the HTML DOM structure.<\/li>\n<li>The question does not have a hyperlink to the answer (applies to FAQs with hyperlinks).<\/li>\n<li>When the questions hyperlink to the answer, but the question statement is not repeated above the answer (applies to FAQs with hyperlinks).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The extraction of the entire FAQ page fails if the page consists of more than one FAQ page types mentioned above.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Annotate_Extract\"><\/span>Annotate &amp; Extract<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You might have all the FAQs related to your business in a PDF file but not in the format mandated by SearchAssist. You can annotate such documents identifying the key sections of the content. This information would be used to extract the FAQs from the document.<\/p>\n<p>Note: This is applicable only when extracting PDF documents.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select a PDF file for extraction.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Annotate &amp; Extract<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<li>The PDF document is loaded into the Annotation Tool allowing you to annotate the various sections in the document.<\/li>\n<li>To annotate, select the text and tag it as follows:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Heading<\/strong> &#8211; to identify questions. Headings are used to train the application to identify the questions and the content between two consecutive headings are treated as the answer for the preceding heading.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Header<\/strong> \u2013 Text thus marked is ignored. Random marking of texts as headers must be avoided. Marking text such as a footer or paragraphs as the header invalidates the search application, and will not produce the optimal results.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Footer<\/strong> \u2013 Text thus marked is ignored. Text marked as Footers is used to train the search application to identify and ignore. Same as the Header, random marking of texts as footers must be avoided. Marking text such as header or paragraphs as the footer invalidates the search application, and will not produce the optimal results.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exclude<\/strong> \u2013 This text is not used for extraction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ignore Page<\/strong> \u2013 Pages marked as ignored are not used for extraction.<\/li>\n<li>You can <strong>Remove Annotation<\/strong> to rectify any incorrect annotations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The search application uses the headings, headers, and footers in the extraction process and can learn, you need not annotate the entire document. You can annotate a couple of pages with headings, headers, and footers, extract and review the questions.<\/li>\n<li>Additional document information is provided:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Document Info<\/strong> &#8211; Name, Size, and the Number of Pages of the document.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Annotation Summary<\/strong> &#8211; Number of annotations marked for each category for the particular page and entire document.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>After you annotate, you can <strong>Extract<\/strong> the document.<\/li>\n<li>The extracted FAQs will be listed under Drafts and can be part of the FAQ review workflow process. <a href=\"\/SearchAssist\/lifecycle\/add-and-manage-data\/faqs\/faq-workflow\/\">Refer here for the review workflow<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.kore.ai\/searchassist\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/FAQ_annotate.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1221\" src=\"http:\/\/docs.kore.ai\/searchassist\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/FAQ_annotate.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1366\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conditional_Responses\"><\/span>Conditional Responses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you add FAQs manually, you have the option of adding <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conditions when a particular response would be qualified. <\/span>These conditions can be set based on Search Context, Page Context, or User Context.<\/p>\n<p>Steps to add conditions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on the <b>Conditions <\/b>toggle under the desired Response.<\/li>\n<li>Select a context from the <b>Select Context<\/b> drop-down list and set the corresponding Parameters to contain\/not contain or value equals\/not equals to specified keywords.\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Search Context<\/em> &#8211; It is used to optimize search results based on the following search parameters:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent Searches<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current Search<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traits identified in the user utterance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entity extracted from the user utterance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keyword presence in the user utterance<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Page Context<\/em> &#8211; It is used to optimize search results based on the following page parameters:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The device being used by the user like mobile or laptop<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The browser on which the user submitted the query like Chrome, Safari, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current page<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent pages<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>User Context<\/em> &#8211;
